The cryptocurrency industry was abuzz with anticipation as the inaugural Crypties Awards from Decrypt Studios in Miami was held on November 30th. There were many exciting projects and initiatives that were nominated for the awards, and the evening was filled with suspense and excitement as the winners were revealed.
The first award of the night was the Social Impact Award, which was won by Celo. Marek Olszewski accepted the award on behalf of Celo, and the other nominees in the category were Ukraine DAO, Dream DAO, Proof of Protest, and Digital Diaspora.
The second award of the night was the How Tezos Was Ahead of the Proof-of-Stake Merge: Web Summit 2022. Kathleen Breitman, co-founder of Tezos, discussed how the Tezos blockchain has used a proof-of-stake mechanism since its inception, her admiration for Tendermint, Ethereum and sharding, progressive decentralization, and NFT gaming with Decrypt’s Stephen Graves onstage at Web Summit in Lisbon.
The third award of the night was the NFT Project of the Year, which was won by Bored Ape Yacht Club. Illa Da Producer accepted the award on behalf of Yuga Labs, and the other nominees in the category were Moonbirds, Azuki, DeGods, and CloneX.
In addition to the awards, there were also several live events held throughout the evening. Clay Robbins of Slow Ventures, Soona Amhaz of Volt Capital, Sarah Guo of Conviction and formerly Greylock, and Alex Strzesniewski of AngelBlock joined Decrypt’s Jason Nelson at 0xpo Summit in San Francisco on November 3 for an extensive panel on raising venture money even during Crypto Winter.
The inaugural Crypties Awards from Decrypt Studios provided an exciting evening of recognition for many of the leading projects and initiatives in the cryptocurrency industry. Celo won the Social Impact Award, Tezos was highlighted for its innovative proof-of-stake mechanism, and Bored Ape Yacht Club was recognized for its NFT project. In addition, several live events were held throughout the evening, providing an opportunity for attendees to learn more about raising venture money and other topics. It was a night to remember for all involved!
